Joe loves the people he works with and the community that supports him. He is grateful for the people who trust him and give him the opportunity to help them.

Amy Grossman, Physical Therapist, smiling for the camera.

Amy Grossman, Physical Therapist

Education: B.S. in Physical Therapy (University of Scranton).

Fun Facts: Amy has been practicing physical therapy in Honesdale since 1994. She lives in Cherry Ridge with her husband and children. Amy works in the outpatient clinic and at The Bethany Village Assisted Living Facility.

Hobbies: When Amy is not working, she enjoys being on her hobby farm, where she raises beef cattle and chickens, as well as sheep and pigs (which are her daughter’s 4H projects). Amy has become very knowledgeable about raising chickens and is always happy to swap stories with fellow enthusiasts.

Amy’s approach to physical therapy in three words:

“Listen, plan, pursue. I feel that listening to a client is the most important aspect of treatment. We can make an appropriate plan only after hearing and truly making an effort to understand each individual’s specific complaints and goals. At that point, I use all the skills I’ve accumulated over my 29+ years of practice to help my patients pursue those goals.”

The most rewarding aspect of Amy’s job as a PT:

“When I encounter someone in the community who remembers me and wants to say thank you, sometimes years after their rehabilitation. I adore hearing that something I may have done or said has helped them and positively impacted their well-being. I truly love my job at Murray PT and am so thankful to be able to assist the people of Wayne County.”

Karen McGraw-Non, Physical Therapist

Education: Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy (Thomas Jefferson University 1992), Doctorate in Physical Therapy (Jefferson College of Graduate Studies 2007).

Fun Facts: Karen is certified in The Gray Institute of Applied Functional Science Program, as well as IASTYM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization), and FMS (Functional Movement Systems). She enjoys treating all types of Orthopedic issues with a special interest in shoulder, hip, and ankle issues.

She is a lifelong resident of Pleasant Mount where she resides with her family. Karen enjoys traveling and aspires to see as much of the world as possible. She also enjoys taking walks, especially on the beach, and spending time with her family and friends.

What sparked Karen’s interest in physical therapy:

“A family friend severely injured his lower leg in a motorcycle accident resulting in an amputation. Watching him walk with a prosthesis was amazing to me and life changing to him. I wanted to pursue a profession that would be rewarding each day while helping others.”

The most rewarding aspect of Karen’s job as a physical therapist:

Being able to impact a patient’s physical and often emotional well-being while facilitating their return to all aspects of their lives. Being a listener to them, providing empathy, support, and encouragement when needed. Especially when they are in extreme pain, or have marked disability when they begin.”

How Karen motivates patients having a tough time with recovery:

“Primarily by showing them where they were when they initially began therapy versus where they are at present time – relating it to pain, movement, function, and their goals.”

“Tenacity to ‘stick to it’!”

Jean’s most rewarding aspect of work as a PT:

“Interacting with people and seeing them respond with positive progress.”

Meegan Murray, Physical Therapist, at Murray PT in Honesdale, PA.

Meegan Murray, Physical Therapist

Education: Master of Science in Physical Therapy (Ithaca College 2001), Doctor of Physical Therapy (University of St. Augustine 2023).

Fun Facts: Meegan works full-time as the Program Director for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program and is Lead for the Division of Health Sciences at Lackawanna College. Most of her clinical practice has been in skilled nursing, and she currently works per diem for Murray PT, primarily at Bethany Village.

And all of the PTAs at Murray PT have been her students, graduating from her PTA program!

Meegan has three children and spends most of her time watching them compete in various sports (and trying to cook enough food for all of them).

Joe and Meegan started Murray PT with a dream of giving back to the community where Joe grew up and where we’re raising our family.

Meegan enjoys reading, hiking, listening to live music, and spending time with friends and family in her free time.

What sparked Meegan’s interest in Physical Therapy:

“I have always loved science and found the human body so interesting. There is always something to learn and discover! Patients don’t always respond as expected to treatment, so critical thinking is paramount and keeps things challenging in a great way. I also wanted a career working with others, one that I could feel good about at the end of the day.”

A myth about physical therapy that Meegan would like to debunk:

“There is a myth that PT is ‘one size fits all’ or stands for ‘personal torture.’ Good clinicians, like those at Murray PT, take the time to listen to their patients and develop an individual treatment plan for them — no job is too big or too small. The patient is central to the rehabilitation team and should always feel free to provide feedback or ask questions. While therapy can be challenging, without challenge, there is no change!”

How Meegan motivates patients having a tough time with recovery:

“Patients may get frustrated when they’re not where they want to be — but they often forget how far they have come. Reminding them of where they started can be helpful to put things in perspective and provide motivation. Patients may also need reminders that physical therapy does not change things overnight and that the goal of therapy is not solely to help them feel better immediately; it is also to educate them and prevent their symptoms from returning in the future.”

Mychaela Pritchard, Physical Therapist Assistant and Clinic Lead at Murray PT.

Mychaela Pritchard, Physical Therapist Assistant & Clinic Lead

Education: Associate in Science in Physical Therapist Assistant (Lackawanna College), Associate in Science Certified in Functional Bowen and Gray Institute Applied Functional Science.

Fun Facts: Mychaela resides in Honesdale with her husband and three children. She enjoys walks with her dog Kimber and coaching field hockey for a local team.

What sparked Mychaela’s interest in physical therapy:

“As a teenager and athlete, I was a PT patient, which was my first experience with physical therapy. Then, in my first year of college, my Grandfather became ill and needed PT. So, I went with him — and enjoyed his sessions more than he did! This is when I knew I wanted a career where I could help others regain mobility and their independence.”

How Mychaela motivates patients having a tough time with recovery:

“Physical therapy might not be an individual’s favorite part of rehabbing, but it’s essential. I take the time to listen to the patient’s goals and what they would like to achieve by the end of their rehab and try to incorporate as many functional exercises that reflect their needs and goals into their sessions as possible. I think it’s best to make physical therapy as fun and functional as possible.”

The most rewarding aspect of Mychaela’s job as a physical therapist:

“The patients make this job the most rewarding. Seeing them return to their pain-free lifestyle and regain their independence makes the paperwork worth it. I truly enjoy seeing how far a patient has come and the look of relief on their face when they’re no longer in pain, or they can finally reach into the kitchen cabinet for the first time in months. Patient success is truly the most rewarding.”

Here’s what Mychaela has to say about working at Murray PT:

“What I enjoy the most about working at Murray PT is that my co-workers feel more like family. It’s rare to find co-workers that you would consider close friends and who enjoy seeing you succeed and excel in your field and support you.”

Hannah Vennie, a Physical Therapist Assistant, with Murray PT.

Hannah Vennie, Physical Therapist Assistant

Education: Associate in Science in Physical Therapist Assistant (Lackawanna College).

Continuing Education: Gray Institute Applied Functional Science Certification and Pain-Free Performance Certification.

Fun Facts: Hannah is a proud resident of Hawley. She enjoys working out, reading, and spending time with her family.

What Hannah has to say about her role at Murray PT:

“I love the community atmosphere and how we all work together to accomplish the same goals. It’s always nice to see how patients communicate during sessions and laugh while working through their aches and pains. The most rewarding part of my job is reflecting on where a patient started as they accomplish some of their long-term goals. And it’s so rewarding to watch patients be able to move and be pain-free.”

A physical therapy myth Hannah would like to debunk:

“Physical therapy is not just for those who have had surgery. PT can help you to be pain-free, improve body mechanics, and move better throughout your day-to-day activities — even if you don’t have pain. PT can also be for any age, from pediatric to geriatric, athletic, or non-athletic.

How Hannah motivates patients having a tough time with recovery:

“I think it is important to remind patients how far they have come in their recovery, looking back to where they were on the first session, and to see the little goals they have accomplished along the way. I think it is also essential to find a balance of challenging and doable exercises for someone so they feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of their session.”

Brenna McLaughlin, Physical Therapist Assistant

Education: Associate in Science in Physical Therapist Assistant (Lackawanna College).

Fun Facts: Brenna is a mom of two. She enjoys going on walks, exploring parks with her kids, and hanging out with family and friends.

How Brenna incorporates fun into her PT sessions:

The ability to be creative during my session is my favorite part of my job! I love incorporating functional tasks that are individualized to each patient, whether shoveling, performing cartwheels, carrying their grandchild, or cooking. I can make an exercise out of any activity, which never makes my job boring.

How Brenna motivates patients having a tough time with recovery:

“I pride myself on making personal connections with patients, so there’s an open line of communication. Sometimes, getting those negative feelings out is helpful when lacking motivation. I also encourage the patient to look at where they started and the small progress made — small steps in the right direction.”

What Brenna loves most about working at Murray PT:

“I feel so blessed to work at Murray PT because my boss is an unbelievably talented therapist who helps me grow clinically but is also a wonderful human who puts his employees first and would do anything for any of us. You don’t get that from most employers. Although we all have different personalities, I enjoy the company of all my coworkers and how we can all joke around daily with each other.”

Kim Hodder, a Physical Therapy Assistant at Murray PT in Honesdale, PA.

Kim Hodder, Physical Therapy Assitant

Education: Associate of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant, with 37 years of experience.

Fun Facts: Kim was born and raised in Hawley, PA, and has been living in Honesdale for the past 22 years with her husband of 29 years, Marc. Together, they have two amazing kids, Shea and Jake. In her free time, Kim loves to cook and bake. She’s also fluent in American Sign Language.

What sparked Kim’s interest in physical therapy:

“My interest in PT came from my father. He was a quadriplegic from a hunting accident when I was an infant, and was an inspiration to all who knew him.”

The most rewarding aspect of Kim’s job as a physical therapist assistant:

“The most rewarding thing about being a PTA is the “End Result”. I love to be a part of a patient regaining their independence, returning to work or school and being able to participate in sports, and hobbies.”

Here’s what Kim has to say about working at Murray PT:

“I love working at Murray PT because we focus on the individual. Every patient is different and every patient gets individualized treatments. It is a pleasure to work with such an outstanding team of skilled professionals.”

What sparked Tim’s interest in Physical Therapy:

“When I graduated high school, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to pursue as an occupation. With some guidance, I was pointed in the direction of Physical Therapy. My whole life, I have enjoyed helping people in any way that I can, and I have always had an interest in the body, movement, and exercise, so physical therapy was a great way to combine all the above.”

Here’s what Tim has to say about his work as a PT:

“The most rewarding part of my job is watching and helping patients regain function and return to their lifestyles pre-injury. I enjoy their stories of being able to do things that ‘I haven’t done since I was 20!’”

I’ve been told that I can have a conversation with anyone and anything, so during PT sessions, I like to find topics of interest for my patients to talk about, taking their minds off of them being in rehab. I also enjoy joking around — I have a fun personality, making PT fun for anyone.

How Corrine brightens the day of her patients:

Corinne’s go-to strategy for managing challenging situations in the office:

“My go-to strategy for managing challenging situations in the office starts with communication. I know that all of the staff members in the clinic are trustworthy and reliable individuals who look out for each other. I started working for Murray PT because of family. Murray PT is not a large corporation; it’s a small business run by amazing people who genuinely care about the community and the patients.
